Keeping track of a busy kitchen takes time.

  • When you're responsible for several kitchens, it's not always easy to know what's happening in each one without checking with the team.
  • Most of the information is already available, but you often need to check different systems to get a clear picture.
  • During a busy shift, the team needs a simple way to record what has been done and what still needs attention.

All Kitchen Operations in One Place

Spreadsheets versus CAN

Spreadsheets are useful, and I still use them myself. But when it comes to daily kitchen operations, I wanted something easier for the whole team to work with.

Why I built CAN

When I was working in Singapore, I was responsible for several restaurants. I couldn't be in every kitchen at once, and I wanted an easier way to see what was happening in each restaurant in real time.

Most systems already allowed me to check the information I needed, but I wanted something simpler. Something I could open and quickly understand what was happening across the kitchens I was looking after.

That's where the idea for CAN started.

I built the delivery function first because it was something my team needed every day. But that was only the beginning.

My goal is to turn CAN into a kitchen operations platform that chefs can use throughout their working day. I want it to help with the small tasks that take up so much of our time, as well as the bigger responsibilities of running a kitchen.

There is still a lot I want to build, but I hope CAN can eventually make everyday kitchen work a little easier for chefs.
